Events can be hidden or shown based on the users role in academé. |
| Comment | Comments can be enabled for any list item in academe'. Commenting on text, news items, or events can be configured on for specified roles or for all users to read. Comments are usually placed beneath the node information on the node page. |
| User Profiles | After a user has been added to academé they will receive a dedicated node that can be updated either by the user or by administrative personnel. If you choose to give the user the ability to update ones own profile the update form will appear in their user profile. A users profile is made available to them immediately upon login. This will ease users into updating their own profile pages by presenting it to them repeatedly. |
| Upload | All users will be able to upload and make available documents via their user profiles. In addition all other list types in academe' will accommodate file uploads. A link will be presented to allow users to retrieve the documents. PDFs, Word Documents, Open Office Documents, Pictures and many other formats are supported. |
| JSCalendar | All date inputs in academé use a popup calendar to make it simple for the user to choose a date. |
| Contact Forms | Contact forms are provided for all active users registered in academé. Users email address is never made available to the public or malicious attackers. Captcha is also available, however it is not by default turned on because of the success academé has had in masking email addresses from malicious users. Turning Captcha on is entirely up to your department and has no extra charge associated. Site wide contact forms are also available. |
| Breadcrumbs | A breadcrumb trail is available on every page of academé excepting the splash page. A link home is also provided in the header or header region depending on the theme/template. |
| Google Analytics | Google Analytics is installed on all academé sites. See Google analytics to find out more about this powerful tool for tracking visitors to your website. If support is purchased, a periodic review of your analytics with changes to blocks or menus is included based on data gathered with Google Analytics. |
| WYSIWYG data entry | IMCE and TinyIMCE is used throughout academé to make content entering simple. Images can be uploaded, paragraphs can be formatted, lists can be dropped in and tables can be entered without the use of third party software. You can see what your content will look like before it is published to your site. Editing is as simple as finding the content and clicking the edit tab. Quick link menus are available for adding new content to academé. |
| PathAuto | PathAuto assigns URL addresses to page that can be read without the obscure markup one sees on many sites. What this means to you and to search engines is that the URL of a page closely mirrors the pages content. This will help your departmental pages go to the top of searches for search terms referenced in the page title. The page title is entirely configurable by the user. EX: you have a news article about a professor winning an award. The title of the news article is Professor Sandwich won the Hoagies award. The page will place in one of the top positions for "Professor Sandwich" and "Hoagies Award" . These results are because most Search engines place great weight in URL's. URL's read like a page title. |
| Printer Friendly Pages | Adding a printer friendly link to a node in academé is as easy as toggling this on or off. Some pages are set to printer friendly by default others will require the user inputting the content to toggle it on. |
| Comprehensive site search | Many departments must use a college specified search technique. academé sites can incorporate most of these search engines at no additional cost. For departments that do not have a school wide capability academé provides a comprehensive site search. All content is indexed for keywords. The search results list links and a short bit of text for the referenced term or terms on a dedicated site search page. |
| External Links | All links that go to a page outside of academé will be marked with a visual reminder that the users is about to leave the departments site. |
| People Spotlight | All registered users can become spotlighted users. Spotlighted people can include 'professors', 'a day in the life of a student', and 'featured alumni' just to name a few. |
